LARRION T. TRICE is a native of Missouri City, TX, and a graduate of Thurgood Marshall High School. He received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from Prairie View A&M University (2011) and a Master of Music Degree in Percussion Performance from The University of Southern Mississippi (2014). He was an Assistant Band Director, Percussion Instructor, and Orchestra Director in Beaumont ISD including the schools Ozen High School, Central High School, and Beaumont United High School. During that time, his percussionist and percussion ensembles have won various awards including UIL State Solo & Ensemble Superior Ratings in solos and ensembles, and 1st place awards in drumline battle competitions. Mr. Trice is currently a Music Teacher at Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, TX. His percussion students have also won UIL State Solo & Ensemble Superior Awards, and Superior Awards in regional competitions as well. Mr. Trice is also the Adjunct Percussion Professor at Texas Southern University over percussion studies for the music department. Mr. Trice has reactivated the TXSU Percussion Ensemble and debuted HBCUs’ first Snare Drum Ensemble at Texas Southern University. Both ensembles have been invited to perform at the HBCU National Band & Orchestra Directors Consortium in Atlanta, GA. The TSU Snare Ensemble received their first sponsorship through Rudimental Control with sponsored drum pads.

Mr. Trice is an active performer, clinician, and adjudicator for various schools, districts, and competitions. He started his personal percussion brand “Trice Percussion” in 2018 to offer percussion lessons, percussion clinics, percussion college audition preparation, marching band and percussion compositions and arrangements, percussion judging and percussion performance all under one brand. He has performed with very notable ensembles from marching percussion to concert percussion. He is one of the founding members of the Houston Rockets Sonic Boom Drumline and performed three years with the organization. Most recently, he is the Assistant Executive Director of the newly Traditional Indoor Percussion Group called Southern Percussion Ensemble. The debut of the groundbreaking Southern Percussion Ensemble will be performing very soon within the WGI circuit. Mr. Trice joined the band staff of Texas Southern University “Ocean of Soul” Band in 2023 as an Assisting Percussion Instructor of the “Funk Train” Drumline along with Mr. Darren Harrison. Mr. Trice is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia National Music Fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, and Phi Boota Roota National Percussion Fraternity.
